“I think building your own legacy starts with staying true to yourself. There’s a lot of built-up pressure, but I try to just work hard and be present—not looking at the past or the future—but instead focusing right in the moment where my feet are.”
Arch Manning

It’s the first truly warm day of spring in Austin, Texas, but Arch Manning already has his sights set on fall.
While some might not know the name “Arch Manning” yet, his last name probably rings a bell. But if you live anywhere within a 500-mile radius of his beloved Texas Longhorns hometown (or just love college football in general) then you’ve been eagerly awaiting the next six months for almost two years.
The much-touted college quarterback (and our newest Vuori Athlete) has been primed to take the helm as QB1 at the University of Texas for the last two years, but talking to Arch you’d have no idea of family-ties, next-in-lines, or even the high-stakes pressures that await him in the months to come.
Leading a top college football team to victory is no easy feat. Leading a top college team to victory that previously made the College Football Playoff Semifinals? Even harder. If you were a betting person, the chances of repeating such success may be wagered a long shot, but for the Longhorns, the odds appear in their favor: Arch is focused, grounded, and just playing the sport he loves.

From his sauntering gait to his slightly twangy New Orleanians drawl, there’s an ease to Arch despite his towering 6’ 4”, 225-pound frame. Despite a busy day with an early wakeup call, throughout our shoot together he was quick to crack a smile or make us laugh well until the field lights came on.
This comradery. This humbleness. This unwavering ability to keep things light even under crushing pressure and unimaginable expectations. This is exactly what makes Arch, Arch.
Any other player could have made the day and shoot all about them. But not Arch. Around midday he had his younger brother and childhood best friend join him on set—driving the golf cart and playing catch— for a brief moment just three college kids goofing around on a sunny day in the city they love.
But don’t let this easy attitude lull you into thinking he’s just here for fun and games. The thing Arch Manning loves more than football and his fellow Longhorns? Winning. And while we still have a few more months to go before we get to see how the season plays out for Arch, as our shoot wrapped up, we got a glimpse of things to come when we challenged him to throw the football 30 yards downfield into a bucket, blindfolded.
After one missed attempt, his laughter quickly switched to a laser-like focus. He steadied his feet. Regripped the ball. Even the moisture in the air shifted and the wind picked up, almost as if on cue.
He tried again.
And as the ball arched through the air towards the end zone and the final bucket—shining in the setting Texas sun and glow of the stadium's light flickering to life—suddenly we all knew with certainty: you should never bet against Arch Manning.

What was the first thing you loved about football?
“I loved being able to have fun and play with my friends. I love winning. So anytime you get the chance to compete, be in close games, it's kind of what you live for. The most exciting thing is having shared success with your teammates. I think football teaches you a lot, and having success with 10 other guys on the field with you is a cool thing.”
Was there ever a time you imagined playing another position or sport?
“My dad was a receiver, so I kind of always saw myself as a receiver up until about freshman year of high school and I stuck with quarterback. But I grew up playing everything: baseball, basketball, karate, gymnastics, golf. I still play golf to this day, I wish I was a little bit better. But definitely not swimming. I remember I didn't like swimming."
Who are some of your sports role models?
“I really like to watch Josh Allen. He's one of my biggest role models. I love the way he plays. I like the way he carries himself. In other sports, I'd say it's Michael Jordan, my dad loved him when I was growing up. They are the ultimate competitors, they have fun, and they stay true to themselves.”
At Vuori we’re currently celebrating our ten-year anniversary and have been talking a lot about what it takes to build a legacy. How do you balance carrying the Manning name with building your own identity?
“I think building your own legacy starts with staying true to yourself. There’s a lot of built-up pressure, but I try to just work hard and be present—not looking at the past or the future—but instead focusing right in the moment where my feet are.”
How would you best describe how you want to show up on the field with this team?
“I play a team sport, it’s not all about me. So doing whatever I can to help the team win and bring energy. I started playing football because I loved it, so I don't want to lose that love. It’s all about just enjoying the time out there with my buddies, having a good time, and hopefully some success.”
What excites you most about the season ahead?
“Being able to play a little bit more, play in big games and just enjoy the ride, enjoy the process. The season's long, but you get to get close to all your teammates and it's something I'll remember for the rest of my life.”
